dhikala forest rest house

DONE

The Dhikala zone of the Corbett National Park is celebrated for its eco-tourism and is well endowed with spectacular wildlife, making it a paradise for any wildlife lover.

The Dikhala zone offers the opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity during the day with a Canter safari, as well as the chance to stay overnight in one of the forest rest houses within the zone.

The Dhikala Forest rest house and the Gairal Forest rest house are two places where visitors can stay overnight to enjoy the wilderness. The appeal of staying overnight in the forest is what draws wildlife tourists to these forest rest houses.

The Gairal Rest House is a beautiful forest house that is situated in a serene and natural setting, away from the noise and commotion of the city. This place is a hidden gem that offers its guests a chance to relax and escape the busyness of everyday life.

The Forest Rest House at Dhikala has situated approximately 13 km from Dhangarhi, the entry gate to the Dhikala zone, and around 40 km from Ramnagar city. The FRH compound is surrounded by a solar electric fence to keep wild animals out.

The Gairal FRH is located in a secluded spot in the forest, which gives it an incredibly peaceful atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to clear your mind of all the chaotic thoughts and recharge your batteries. You’ll love spending time here!

The FRH is situated on the Ramganga river bank, offering you a stunning view of the river bank and the opportunity to see many animals and witness their activities near the river bed.

The tiger is the king of the forest, and more often than not, he can be seen near the river bank. He visits either to drink water or to search for prey. Similarly, herds of elephants often congregate around the river to drink and bathe.

Bird enthusiasts will be in heaven here as there are many opportunities to go birding near the forest home.

Dining In Gairal Forest Rest House

When you stay at Gairal rest house, the canteen run by GMVN provides you with a limited but good-tasting menu of home-cooked food. You won’t find anything too fancy here, but the food is filling and satisfying.

In addition to meals, guests can buy snacks and bottled water from the canteen. Non-vegetarian food and wine are not allowed in the forest House.

How to reach Gairal Forest Home

The forest rest house is open to tourists from mid-November to mid-June when the weather is generally more favorable. The rest of the year, the FRH is closed to any tourist activity due to the bad weather conditions that are typically present during that time.

You can book a night stay at the Gairal FRH by making an online reservation up to 45 days in advance (for Indian citizens) or 90 days in advance (for foreign nationals).

The Gairal can only be reached by entering through the Dhangarhi gate, which is located 18 km from Ramnagar. You have to hire an authorized safari jeep to enter the park.

Time to visit Gairal Forest Home

Summer season is the best time to visit the park because you’ll be able to see more animals out and about. Take advantage of this time by coming here and enjoying the river and meeting some of the endangered animals and bird species that call this place home. You’re sure to have an unforgettable experience that you’ll want to tell all your friends about.

Accommodation in Gairal Forest House

The accommodation at Gairal FRH is nicer and more comfortable than the few other forest houses in Corbett. Even though it’s a forest rest house, it offers limited amenities in its rooms. However, the rooms and attached bathrooms are clean, and everything inside is in good working condition.

There are three types of rooms at Gairal Lodge. Currently, only the new FRHS (Furnished Rooms With Shared Bathrooms) and the dormitory are available for guests to book. The old FRHs (Furnished Rooms Without Shared Bathrooms) are currently unavailable for guest reservations.

Each room is very spacious and well ventilated, and each bathroom has western fittings with a running hot shower facility. With the help of the solar energy system, hot showers are available at any time.

There is no electricity at the FRH, but there is solar energy available for lighting purposes during the day. So no air conditioning, television, fans, etc. are provided.
