Dhela Safari Zone

The Dhela Safari Zone is a beautiful area that sprawls over 1173 hectares. Corbett National Park’s sixth eco-tourism zone was included on the Corbett Tiger Reserve tourism map in 2014. It was crafted out of the southern buffer forests part of Corbett and is a great place to visit if you’re interested in seeing some amazing wildlife.

The Dhela forest is known for its rich history, and it’s not surprising that it’s home to some of the most majestic tigers in the world. In fact, seven tigers were spotted in the forest just last year.

The mixed forest plantation and moist deciduous habitat are great for all sorts of wildlife, including Sambhar Deer. These deer often attract tigers looking for an easy meal, which helps keep the local ecosystem in balance.

It’s a fact that the Sal forests are a favorite hunting ground for tigers. The watchtower inside the Dhela Zone is a great spot for tourists to see wild animals from a distance. It’s a great way to get up close and personal with nature without disturbing the animals in their natural habitat.

Dhela offers 46 kilometers of Jungle Path for wildlife spotting. For travelers who want to enjoy Jeep Safari, there are both morning and evening shifts available. Only 15 gypsies are allowed per shift.

Dhela is a great place for bird-watching, and it’s open all year round. You’re sure to see some impressive birds if you visit at the right time of year.

Major attractions at Dhela Safari Zone

Jungle safaris are a popular tourist activity, and Dhela is one of the best places to see tigers. In 2019-20, Dhela had the second-highest number of tiger sightings after Dhikala. Jeep safaris are the most popular way to see tigers in Dhela, and demand is always high.

There have been many instances where tigers have been spotted near the entry gate of the Dhela National Park. This suggests that Dhela has a high density of tigers.

Best time to visit: it’s best to go during the months of October to June.

Chaurs (Grass Lands)

This grassland is a major attraction for visitors to the Dhela Tourism Zone. You’re likely to see elephants and deer here, as well as Neel Gai and Wild Pig.

Flora and Fauna in Dhela

The Dhela zone is a great place for bird-watching enthusiasts. With a wide variety of birds, it’s the perfect place to go to spot some of your favorites or even discover new ones! The mixed forests are made up of Sal, Rohini, Haldu, Bahera, and Kusum trees, which provide habitat for tigers, leopards, Asiatic elephants, sloth bears, and king cobras.

How to reach

To reach the Dhela Eco Tourism zone, you’ll need to go through the Jhirna zone first. The gate is located about twenty kilometers from Ramnagar.
