Sitabani is a beautiful forest area, and it’s not under the Corbett Tiger Reserve. The rules and regulations of the CTR don’t apply here, which has made it a favorite spot for tourists who love to walk and explore. This area is also special because it’s mentioned in the Hindu Epic Ramayana.

The epics tell the story of how Goddess Sita spent some days in the Sitabani jungles. The entire forest was protected and overseen by the ASI.

Sitabani is open all year for safari tours! There is no limit to how many people can go in, so come on down and enjoy the sights. The Corbett Tiger Reserve Authority doesn’t offer any kind of permit for this area, so you don’t have to worry about that.

Sitabani Forest Department offers Jeep Safaris and there is also a small ancient Hindu shrine called “Shiva Mandir” located in the jungle. These streams flow through Sitabani offering tourists a pleasant experience.

Flora and Fauna Found in Sitabani Forest Area

The Sitabani Forest Area is a wonderful place for people who enjoy nature. It has more than 600 different species of trees, shrubs, bamboo, herb, orchid, woody climber, and wetland plants. Some of the important ones include sal, sheesham, kanjut, dhak, haldu, peepal, mangoes, and Rohini.

Sitabani Forest is a great natural habitat where you can see a wide range of wildlife, including the Royal Bengal Tigers, Elephants, Sambhar, Barkings Deer, Porcupine, and King Cobra. It’s also a paradise for birdwatchers.

Sitabani is a great place to visit any time of year, but the best times to come are from April through October. The weather is perfect for walking and exploring the nature reserve, and you’re sure to see plenty of wildlife.

Advance booking is recommended for taking safaris in the Sitabani area. Though, Corbett Tiger Reserve doesn’t provide permits for entering this area. Instead, the Sitabani Forest department provides the permissions for jeep safaris in this region.

Sitabani Zone is the only place that you can go on a safari during monsoon season! All of the other prime safari zones are closed during this time, but Sitabani Zone remains open.

Forest Rest Houses of Sitabani Zone

The Sitabani Forest Rest House is a historical building that was constructed in 1940. It’s located 27 kilometers from Ramnagar on Powalgarh Road, and it has a great view from its elevated position at 515 meters. You can also take the forest road from Bhandarpani to Sitabani to get there. There’s a watchtower in the FRH compound that’s perfect for bird watchers, and the ancient Sitabani Temple is nearby. The temple is a national monument that’s managed by the Archeological Survey of India. If you’re looking to relax, you can take advantage of the sulfur spring that’s on the property. There are also several caves in the forest that are worth exploring.
